| The BMW 3 Series is one of the
best all around cars in the world. A long list of competitors
have risen over the past decade with one of the closest
competitors being the Infiniti G37 (the Audi A4 is equally
compelling). They seem to
take different approaches when it comes to styling. |

2009 BMW 3 Series Coupe |

The G37's headlights have been redesigned to give the front end
more character but don't seem to mesh well.
|
|

The 3 Series seem to have just the right amount of everything.
Nice lines, aggressive but subtlety so, and a clean look.
About
that twin kidney grille though... |
|
|

The G37 adds more lines than the previous generation but they
don't all flow well together. |
|

The 3 Series' sheet metal looks taut as if it were literally
stretched over the body. |
|

The G37 looks better from the side as it has a better
silhouette. The rear bumper is nicely integrated. |
|

The 3 Series on the other hand, has larger windows which hurt
the look but improve driving visibility. Rear bumpers that still
bulge out are a rare sight these days. |
|
|

taillights look a little odd as they converge upward toward the
far corners. It distorts the lines of the rear. The bumper is
large but simple. |
|

The taillights are clean and simple. If only BMW would put them
on their 3 Series sedan also. |
|
|

taillights have a similar shape as the head lights which may
have not been the brightest idea. The rear oddly enough has a
very rectangular shape to it. |
|

This is how rear ends are suppose to look. Nice trapezoidal shape.
As mentioned earlier, the bumper seems to bulge out. |
|
|

The plastic interior looks cheaper relative to the 3 Series. The
side vents on the navigation screen look like ears rather than
for heating/air conditioning. |
|

The BMW wins for a richer looking interior but seems it still
has cues from the 1990s. The black plastic controls are in
desperate need of an update. |
