Rounding out the less popular family car segment are the Subaru Legacy and brand new Suzuki Kizashi. Both cars have their strengths but are doubtful to make a dent in Camry and Accord sales. Their purpose isn't to try and beat the segment leaders though, it's to provide a vehicle for those that want to be different.
2010 Suzuki Kizashi vs 2010 Subaru Legacy
Suzuki's new Kizashi takes German styling cues and resembles the Volkswagen Jetta a bit too much. It still looks good if not a tad bland. Subaru's Legacy is a little more polarizing with its new aggressively styled headlights.
The Kizashi has more curves than the Legacy with the most prominent feature being the trunk design. It's unique to say the least but doesn't look like it belongs on a family sedan. It's more interesting than the Subaru's subtle styling but appeals to a smaller audience.
Integration of the Kizashi's tail pipes look good but if you look closely, the tail pipes aren't as large as they seem. The exhaust pipes are actually about the same size as the Legacy's but then placed in larger openings. The curved trunk lid looks better from the rear view than the flat trunk of the Legacy. The Legacy's rear isn't nearly as polarizing as the front and takes rather traditional styling cues.
The interiors look better than the exteriors of both cars. Both have upscale designs with a good use of materials that rival others in this segment.

NOTES
The one thing the Kizashi is no match for is the Legacy's engines and performance numbers. Suzuki actually says they developed the Kizashi at Nürburgring but it's doubtful it would be able to keep up with the Legacy there.

Take a note of the Legacy's engines. The 2.5L H4 Turbo puts out better numbers than the 3.6L H6: 265 hp vs 256 hp and 258 lb-ft vs 247 lb-ft. Who says there's no replacement for displacement?
