| For those that may not know, Nissan used to be named Datsun. The
new 370Z replaces the 350Z and looks more like the original 240Z
from 1970. The 240Z was known as a bargain and has become
somewhat of a collector's car. It was good looking,
affordable, and powerful relative to the time. |

The 370Z is more
aggressive and obviously modernized and goes with Nissan's new
styling direction with the new headlamps. The one thing unusual
about the 370Z is the black lip on the grill. |

The 370Z tried to return to more of its roots by having a
shorter wheelbase and length than the 350Z.Both Z's are
2-passenger sports cars. The way all sports cars should be.

The 370Z is an original design but has a lot of 240Z styling in
it. You can see similar styling cues in the C-pillar the way it
upsweeps into the roofline. This was different on the 350Z. |

The original 240Z actually didn't come with a passenger side
view mirror. On the 370Z, you can see the red deflector in
between the exhaust pipes (picture below). On other models, this
is replaced by a back-up camera (picture above). The 370Z
pictured also has a rear spoiler but doesn't come standard.

Both cars are beautifully designed. The biggest complaint about
the 370Z that can't be seen is its weight. Whereas the 240Z
weighed approximately 2400 lbs, the 370Z actually weighs a
little over 3200 lbs. The 370Z will still dominate a 240Z on the
track but one can only hope that Nissan will make a modern
day 240Z that truly goes back to its roots of being an
affordable lightweight, fun, tossable car. |
