| The new E63 AMG from Mercedes-Benz
has some stiff competition these days, particularly from
Cadillac. With a 6.2L V8 supercharged engine based on the mighty
Chevrolet Corvette engine, the CTS-V ran a 7:59.32 lap time
at the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife track making it the fastest
production sedan ever to run there. The new E63 AMG has a 6.2L
V8 also, but keeps it naturally-aspirated and also shaves a few
pounds off to match or better the CTS-V in performance. |

| Both designs deviate from their
regular sedan counterparts. More aggressive front fascias are
added on both but the CTS-V kicks it up a couple notches. The
lower bumper is more angular with a larger lower grill. Both top
and bottom grilles get mesh and the hood has a new bulge for the
V8. The E63 tries to keep things more restrained to ensure
people know that this is still a luxury car. |

 |
| Both look better than the
non-performance sedans. While the E63 is only marginally better
than the regular E-Class, the CTS-V is world's better. The
regular CTS is a bit too friendly looking due to the large upper
grille and tiny lower grille. The CTS-V redesigns the whole front
fascia and better proportions them while adding a few extra sharp
lines. You'll need a magnifying glass to spot the changes on the
E63. The major difference up front is the slightly revised lower
grill and fog lights. |
 |
|
 |
| You can see two tiny slits up front
on the E63's bumper and a crease around the badge on the fender
to help differentiate it from the E-Class sedan. There's nothing
different about the CTS-V's side except the small badge on the
door. |

The CTS-V has a better proportioned
rear than the E63. The E63's rear is a little too short to match
its wide proportions. The CTS-V's rigid design continues to the
rear. The C-pillar is particularly good-looking with flows into
the trunk.
|

The E63's rear doesn't seem to match the rest of the car. The
tail lights don't look like they belong, especially on a
Mercedes. |
|

The CTS-V finishes off with the same angular design as the rest
of the car. The tail lights are vertical like the headlights and
the third brake light is integrated into the trunk. |
Both rear's are left virtually untouched from the regular
sedans. |

 |
| Both interiors look good with
Cadillac winning for layout design but Mercedes winning for
luxuriousness. Things are a little too shiny in the CTS-V,
especially the center stack. The layout is better though with a
flowing design and a retractable GPS screen to top it off.
Materials look better in the E63 but the design is a bit bland.
At least it covers the center information screen with a housing
to protect it from glare. The gauges look particularly better in
the E63 but everything else are on par with one another. |
