| First off, these two cars are not
to be confused with their regular sedan counterparts. Although
the regular sedan versions have their strengths, these two
versions are full rally-inspired sports cars each capable of
humiliating other more traditional sports cars. These two stand
in a class of their own. |

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution |
vs |
2010
Subaru Impreza WRX STI |
| Both cars have caused some
conflicting impressions to viewers. The Evo falls more into a
love it or hate it design while the STI has been criticized as
looking too plain. Both are a huge departure from their previous
generations which were more boy racer focused. Maybe its a sign
that all boys have to grow up some time. |
| For some odd reason, the STI has
been restyled into a wagon with no STI sedan version available.
This was a huge disappointment to Subaru fans and the automotive
world in general. Although the Evo may cause some dislike
because of its new looks, it still outshines the STI. The
forward design is more aggressive with the large trapezoidal
grille. The new hood in particular shows how its grown up as
the huge hood scoop of the past is gone. |
| A new Lancer Sportback wagon was
launched to battle the STI but is no match for its performance.
Still, at least it gives options for those that want a wagon
versus those who want a rally car bred design. The Evo's profile
is well proportioned with a longer hood and shorter trunk. |

A large wing and rear diffuser are enough to satisfy the boy
racers still out there but not ostentatious enough to upset the
grownups. |

Admittedly, the STI still looks good despite its wagon form. The
profile gives it more of a fastback rear end and the fender
flares give the sides character. |
| The STI might win in rear visuals
with a more appealing tail light design and twin dual exhausts.
The Evo is somewhat plain and might've looked better with the
license plate on the trunk like the STI. The single
exhausts hold it back too. |

| Both interiors fall a little short
in this price category but good enough quality from being called
cheap. Both look clean enough with a nice layout. The STI looks
richer and more informative with a larger center screen and
digital information display above. The dip in the Evo's gauge
cluster housing never looks good but the rest of the layout has
no outstanding faults. |
