| The Bugatti Veyron and McLaren F1
both once held the crown of the world's fastest production car
(which is now held by the SSC Ultimate Aero).
A mere 10 mph separates these two in top speeds, yet that last
10 mph is the hardest to get. The designs couldn't be more
different. The Bugatti is bulging all around with one purpose
only, top speed. The F1 achieves top speed (still the fastest
naturally aspirated production car) but
also maintains being an all around performance car (won Le Mans
in 1995). |

| The Veyron's grille is atrocious.
It pays homage to past Bugatti's but it's horseshoe shape shouldn't belong on a supercar, or any
other car for that matter. The mammoth proportions limit driver
visibility while the F1's sloping hood is ideal when trying to
hit 240+ mph. The F1 was a true driver's car that places the
driver in the center with no passenger up front to annoy or
bother. |

| Even with a design that's over 15
years old, the F1 is still a beautiful modern looking car. It's
angles are purposeful and its entire silhouette screams fast.
Looking at the Veyron, you would never expect it to be a top
speed record holder. |
| The F1's profile is streamlined yet
has enough space for three passengers versus the Veyron's two.
The Veyron really shows its weight (more than 1,600 lbs than the
F1). |
| The Veyron seems to suffer from
elephantitis. The F1 however, looks elegantly crafted with a
exquisite side vent. |
| Elephantitis continues in the
Veyron's rear with a mammoth exhaust and fenders. A rear wing
deploys at high speeds whereas the F1 is vacant of any
aerodynamic enhancements. The F1 shows its age in the rear with
an outdated rear grill. The quad exhausts still look great but
the center piece over the rear window can be a blemish to the
F1's otherwise perfect design. |
