Cadillac has a lot of catching up
to do in the luxury crossover SUV segment. Their last SRX wasn't
received well by buyers although it was a capable SUV. The
design however, was more wagon like which for some reason,
America will never accept. The SRX is all new as well as is the
RX from Lexus which has been a segment leader ever since it
first started the segment.

The new RX returns restyled and better in every way that the
previous generation. The only problem area appears to be the
unusually short height front bumper that angles at the bottom. |
|

The all new SRX loses its SUV/wagon shape and fits a more
traditional shape. The added benefits of a wagon are gone but
the visual appeal of an SUV is improved. The front can look a
bit goofy with oversized headlights and a upward bent grill. |

 |
| The RX is more streamlined than the
SRX which is more angular. Both profiles look great with the RX
looking faster and the SRX looking more muscular. Cadillac took
the profile of the RX with a sloping rear rather than a flat one
like the previous generation. |

| Both have similar design cues like
a sloping rear with a top spoiler attached. Both SUV's taillights also mimic their headlights. |

|

The best way to describe the RX's design is contemporary. Lexus
seems to be trying to step outside of the box with new designs
and layouts. The design isn't ugly but seems more like it
belongs on a painting than in a car. |
|

The SRX's dashboard layout is nicely designed with large vents
and a symmetrical shape. The metal edging outlining the center
stack can make it look a tad on the cheap side though. |
