Kia's Sorento has taken a dramatic turn in design direction. The derivative, copycat styling of the previous generation is gone and what replaces it is a distinct and original design. Add another one to Kia's list of all-new cars.

The previous generation was a near replica of the original Lexus RX300. It looked good but people weren't fooled into buying it. The new Sorento has a completely new design with a front fascia that resembles other new Kias. It has Kia's new signature grille connected to the headlights like the Kia Forte.
The new Sorento takes a more aggressive stance than its predecessor with a concave dip in the doors and more distinct front bumper. The pillars have changed proportions with the new one's D-pillar being larger while the old one's C-pillar was larger.

The Sorento is larger than before but surprisingly the weight is down by approximately 400 pounds thanks largely due to its new unibody design and new front-drive architecture from the Hyundai Santa Fe. All-wheel drive is of course still available.
The rear design gets a big more angular but doesn't look as drastically different as the front ends. The taillights are now wider and are a two-piece set on each side. The bumper has been revised and doesn't protrude out as much as the old generation.
The new interior has a similar layout to the old one with the center stack in-between the vents. New equipment includes Bluetooth and USB connectivity that come standard. Also available are navigation with traffic, rear parking assist, keyless ignition, and the typical luxuries like upgraded audio and leather. A (tiny) third-row seat is available, something not seen on a lot of other compact SUVs. The V6 model even gets a two-row sunroof.
