CONTEXT / BACKGROUND
For those anxious to get their hands on the 6.2-liter F-150 SVT Raptor, the wait is over – as it is now available for sale at dealerships across the country. The excitement is showing up in tangible numbers – more than 7,000 orders for the SVT performance truck have been placed so far, with nearly 3,000 of those for the 6.2-liter version. For true enthusiasts of Ford’s 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor – the first high-performance off-road truck – performance parts can help customize Raptor for a personal touch. Through Ford Racing Performance Parts, a variety of parts are available, including the top-selling halogen lights and light bar.

DETAILS
Enthusiasts looking for some extra power from their F-150 SVT Raptor won’t have to wait any longer – 6.2-liter Raptors are now available for sale at Ford dealers nationwide. In fact, nearly 3,000 customers have already placed orders for the 6.2-liter version. The optional 6.2-liter V-8 engine produces 411 horsepower and 434 ft.-lb. of torque – making Raptor the most powerful half-ton pickup on the market.

NASCAR driver and truck enthusiast Greg Biffle is one customer anxiously awaiting his personal 6.2-liter F-150 SVT Raptor, which will be the first production model off the line. Biffle got his first taste of the truck driving the F-150 SVT Raptor R in a Best in the Desert race.

The F-150 SVT Raptor is the first-ever high-speed off-road performance truck offered by any manufacturer and highlights Ford’s 33 years of truck sales leadership by emphasizing Built Ford Tough durability, innovation and engineering. Developed with the DNA of an off-road pre-runner, comprehensive modifications focused on chassis and suspension enhancements.

The F-150 SVT Raptor is seven inches wider than a base F-150 to make room for the additional suspension components that give Raptor its incredible off-road abilities. The wider stance also gives the truck an aggressive appearance. Internal triple-bypass shocks by FOX Racing Shox – the first on a production truck – provide position-sensitive damping and extra suspension travel for extreme off-roading and a smooth ride on the road.

Raptor also has unique cast-aluminum front control arms and SVT-tuned 35-inch BFGoodrich® All-Terrain TA/KO 315/70-17 tires. These components give Raptor 11.2 inches of front suspension travel and 12.1 inches of rear suspension travel.

An extra level of customization for F-150 SVT Raptor
There’s no doubt the F-150 SVT Raptor is decked out with the latest technologies and engineering feats to make it an off-road menace. But there are also parts available for enthusiasts to customize the truck for their specific needs.

Halogen lights and the accompanying light bar are the top-selling parts through Ford Racing Performance Parts. For off-road use only, these lights improve visibility in high-speed off-road conditions. Painted in a durable black powder-coat, the lights are available as 8-inch halogen lights or as 6-inch auxiliary light packages.

In fact, the halogen lights available from Ford Racing Performance Parts are the same brand and use the same engineering as the lights that powered the F-150 SVT Raptor R to a podium finish at the 41st Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 in 2008.

Additionally, a tow kit provides part of an essential package for off-roading. In a Ford Racing carry bag, the kit includes a 3-inch by 35-inch recovery strap, two SPA clevises, a receiver hitch block with hitch pin, and a North Atlantic Treaty Organization-approved spade.

For Raptor enthusiasts looking to add a personal touch, chrome, black or blue powder-coated cam covers are available for the 5.4-liter engine. Blue powder-coated cam covers for the new 6.2-liter engine will be available shortly. An enhanced front skid plate is also available, which adds side and center reinforcements and the “Ford Racing” name to the already tough truck.
